Robot Testing

Robot Testing
Robot testing is one of the most crucial stages in the engineering process. It’s where theoretical design meets real-world conditions—and where the robot begins to show its true capabilities.
No matter how detailed the planning or how precise the code, unexpected issues will always surface during testing. Testing gives teams the chance to catch these problems early, from overstressed motors to small misalignments to unpredictable sensor behaviour.
Testing isn’t just about getting the robot to work—it’s about building something that can handle the unexpected and keep going. That’s what real engineering is all about.

Coding and Programming
In Vex Robotics competitions, robots need to be able to both handle input and remote controls, as well as operate autonomously for a period of time.
Vex Robots are controlled by Arduinos, programmable in both C and C++, as well as several other languages. Programming input handling and autonomous operating aren't simple challenges, and are a great way to learn programming.
This is a great way to get started with programming, or deepen your skills by solving complex problems!
Robot Design
Vex Robotics features a unique robotics competition every year. The challenges vary, but all of them require creative and thoughtful solutions.
What we're doing is more than simply building a robot. We're thoughtfully designing and creating in order to solve a complex problem, while abiding by competition restraints.
This is a great way to practice creative problem-solving skills. The same kind of skills that you might one day use at a real STEM job!

Community Outreach
At Youth Lighthouse Robotics Club, we believe that teaching is fundamental to learning. Our community outreach programs integrate hands-on learning experiences with meaningful contributions to our community. Through these initiatives, our students not only enhance their robotics skills but also learn the importance of giving back. Join us in making a difference and seeing firsthand the impact we can create together!
Join Our In-Person Meetings
Join us in Mr. Kalister's Room from 3:10 to 3:40 every Thursday to hear more! Our first meeting will be on September 25th.
General Details
We aim to give practical hands-on experience working on Robotics in three areas: Robot Design, Coding, and Testing.
Our meeting patterns will be Thursday from 3:10 - 3:40, with the aim to spark interest, evoke curiosity, and create a learning environment condusive to growth. Click the button below to learn more about our philosophy:
